Planting Clematis in the Fall
Can you really plant clematis in September?
Of course you can!
Just remember these few things:
- Whenever you plant your clematis, follow our Five Steps to Success.
- Make sure your clematis gets plenty of water after planting. The weather
can be dry, even though fall is lurking around the corner.
- Mulching is optional. We used to mulch fall-planted clematis until
we forgot one year...However, if you do mulch, remember this -
Don't place mulch on your plants until AFTER the ground freezes!
