Planting Clematis in the Fall
Can you really plant clematis in Autumn?
Of course you can! Even in the Frozen North!
Just remember these few things:
- Whenever you plant your clematis, follow our Planting Directions.
- Make sure your clematis gets plenty of water after planting. The weather can be dry, even though fall is lurking around the corner.
- Mulching is optional. We used to mulch fall-planted clematis until we forgot one year. They were fine, so we don't bother any more. However, if you do mulch, remember this - Don't place mulch on your plants until AFTER the ground freezes!
